Learn The Ropes

Adult rules: Sub Only

  • Males: Rash Guard or Shirtless & Spats or Shorts with no pockets
  • Females: Rash Guard & Spats or Shorts with no pockets

**Note if change attire during match (taking off rash guard only) you will be hit with a stalling**

No GI & GI Superfights:
Amature (White & Blue)

  • 4 min

Pro ( Purple, Brown, Black)

  • 6 min

Overtime: **The following are OT rounds , you only move to the next round if the match is still tied** 

GI Matches Only  – EBI rounds Starting position  will be our Hammer Lock/ Side Turtle. Each person will be able to start from top control , no gi grips until referee starts the action.  Escape will count as bottom person either clearing from opponent ,  being able to take bottom half guard or full guard, or reversing/sweeping opponent. The 3 second submission clock will be in play to continue the round despite change of positions. 

  • 1st OT : 2 x 1 min EBI OT positions – faster sub or faster escape wins if it is all even we will go to sudden death overtime rounds. **There will be a 3 second transition time when starting in position as long as you are in still control top person has 3 seconds to either attack sub or get back to starting position before escape is called**
  • 2nd OT: 3 min rd Starting on your feet first one to score ADCC style points wins the match. If after the Sudden Death no points have been scored the match will be considered a draw in duel meets.
  • 3rd OT ** Superfight/ Tournament only** :2x 1 min EBI overtime round , whoever has more penalties or stalls against them the other fighter will have a choice in a final OT , if penalties and stalls are even we will decide by a coin flip. Faster submission or escape wins the match. If we happen to have a double ride out , or a tie on time for sub/escape the match will end in a draw.
  • 4th OT ** IF MATCH IS IN A TOURNAMENT OR IS A TITLE MATCH** The match will go to a sudden death EBI Round of 90 secs where the top guy must find the finish to win.


Penalties:

  • No Slams (must have control of the opponent on their way down to the mat, with intent to secure a takedown. NO SLAMMING or SPIKING out of a submission, NO SLAMMING into the wall)
  • NO Slamming into the wall while fighters are on their feet . Scramples/ controlled exchanges you can use the wall for a takedown or submission. Bottom man can use feet on the wall to try and clear space to work out of position.
  • Must grab at least 3 fingers
  • Blues (GI & NO GI) NO Twisting leg attacks or spine manipulation
  • GI Only NO Twisting leg attacks any belt level
  • GI Only – belt must remain attached to fighter to be able to use in a submission or control position 


Out out bounds:

Time will stop when fighters go out of bounds , both competitors have to be fully out of the circle for action to stop. Once stopped we will reset in the middle either on our feet, EBI Over time position, or hammerlock turtle position.

Any Sub going out of bounds: EBI OT CHOICE Arm bar or Backpack ( NO GI Only) 

GI Submission positions : With referee discretion if a submission is in when going out of bounds , the fighter who has the submission in can pick any top control position to start in the middle of the circle with.

Top control Positions (Mount, Side control , Back Mount ): Choice of feet or HammerLock position.

Neutral Positions ( any position not described above ): Will start back on your feet in the middle.

Stalling: 1 warning , every call after that other competitor will have top position in Hammer Lock. 3 stall calls will result in a DQ

  • Must be an active sit or pull guard, if a competitor sits with no engagement they have 3 seconds to engage or will receive a stalling warning.
  • If a competitor “ flees the mat” running out of the circle or dragging the opponent out of the circle clearly not looking to stay in they will receive a stalling warning.
  • If a competitor changes attire they will be hit with a stalling call
  • Stall calls will carry over into overtime and be in play for refs decisions

Work Together

Team Matches

Male- 5 vs 5 Dual Meet Matches

  • Can weigh in 7 competitors but the starting 5 have to be under assigned weight
  • Male Team Weight 900lbs
  • No member of team can compete more than once in the dual


Female – 3 vs 3 Dual Meet Matches

  • Can weigh in 5 competitors but the starting 3 to be under assigned weight
  • Combined weight limit 500 lbs
  • No member of team can compete more than once in the dual

All matches will use Standard HCS rules

Each Dual Match will start with a coin toss , the winning team of the toss will send out their competitor first. After the first match the other team will send out first , it will continue to alternate for the duration of the match.

Allowed Weight Differential

  • Male & Female Amature – 30 lbs
  • Male & Female Pro- Absolute

Team Points

  • 3 PTS for Regulation Sub
  • 2 PTS for OT SUB
  • 1 PTS for non Submission win in OT
  • No Points for teams after ADCC round

Tie Breakers: Criteria

Non Championship Round ( Single Dual)

  • Criteria 1 = Most regulation submissions
  • Criteria 2= most overall submissions
  • Criteria 3= fastest escape time

Championship Rounds

  • Criteria 1= Total Points for Tournament
  • Criteria 2= Go to Non Championship Criteria
5-12 Years Old

Youth Division

  • 5-6 years old
  • 7-9 years old
  • 10-12 years old
Rash – Guard and Shorts with No Pockets

All youth tournaments will be a madison weight system , we will pair kids with the same skill level and within 5 lbs of each other to make the most appropriate brackets. Every bracket will be designed to get each competitor at least 2 matches.

Novice -less than 1 year of experience and/or no competition experience Advanced – more than 1 year of experience or has competition experience.
  • No Submissions in any age division
  • 3 min Regulation Period
    • Point system
    • 2 PTS – takedowns, side control ,sweeps
    • 3 PTS- mount or back mount

13-15 years old

Teen Divisions

  • Novice -less than 1 year of experience and/or no competition experience
  • Advanced – more than 1 year of experience or has competition experience.

  • 3 min Regulation Period
  • (1) 2 min ADCC OT ( first to dominant position and holds for 3 seconds wins match)
  • NO jumping guard
  • NO Flying Attacks ( must have both feet on the ground when standing )
  • NO Slamming of any kind ( must have control of opponent at all times)
  • NO Submissions below the waist of any kind
  • NO Spine Manipulation
  • NO Neck Cranks
  • NO Grabbing any clothing
  • Sub only
  • 3 min Regulation Period

  • (2) 1 min EBI **must start in back control** (time doesn’t matter)
  • 2 min ADCC ( first to dominant position wins side control,mount , or back control)
  • (2) 1 min EBI **must start in back control** (fastest sub or escape wins)
